How to greet your family.

Newfoundland Dog, Newfoundland Puppy, Newfie, Gentle Giant

Let others know you are glad to see them come home. Miss Stella does so in a very quiet and subtle way. Telling your loved ones that they have been missed helps ease the transition from work or school to home.

    • Great image Jodi! What a thought and I can see it clearly. She would have her legs crossed, rocking, and her elbow bent on the arm of the chair with her chin in her paw. I hope this day is a great day for you. : )

    • She does pretty well for a puppy. The gate helps some! She wants to pat with her paw when greeting like this and does not realize that her paw is not a little paw, but more like a large furry hammer at times! When on all fours and greeting, she does pretty well but we are still in the puppy stage so have some work to do. She gets ‘down’ on command but then has to try and carry our bags or briefcases into the house for us. She is such a worker! I will take her greetings like this all day every day. Her Newfness is amazing to us.

    • I will admit it is indeed wonderful. I feel huge smiles from my heart when I walk up to the gate on the porch with her standing their waiting. Her ‘talk’ cracks me up and the day’s stress sort of just fades away. We are working on her paws at such a greeting though. She tends to want to reach out with one paw but does not realize her strength and size so it sometimes can come across as a ‘clobber’ rather than a pat!

    • She is getting very tall. It is funny how we forget just how much she is still growing. Her growth has been amazing to witness. We joke now, about joking about how we thought she was so big at such and such months. She seems like she was so small compared to now, but really she has always been a big pup. The average for a newf pup is about 10 pounds per month at least for the first year. : )

    • Thank you Bassa. You always have the nicest things to say. I hope you are doing well and that you are enjoying your naps and walks about your neighborhood today. I am headed over to your blog for a visit shortly. : )

    • She really does Misty. If she is out on the porch when one of us arrives home from work or doing errands, this is the face and pose greeting us. If you look closely, you can see her mouth is in mid ‘talk’. She has so much to say to us about her day. Newfs are talkers!
