Newfoundland Dog Investigates Bear

Miss Stella has worked hard for me with her training lately. She has been practicing her commands off leash  and is doing well. Her ‘down/stay’ when I  am out of her sight is getting better each time we practice. She has also been carrying her basket on her walks. In addition to all of her work, she has also been getting more investigative.

Miss Stella snuck into one of the girls’ rooms and realized the bed was not only bigger, but lower to the ground. She has not quite figured out how to maneuver herself up on our higher bed without a little help (a.k.a. a two-legged person or two to help lift). This bed has tons of room, she can jump on it without help, and….

…there are all of these stuffed animals that look like her Duckie, Rhino, and Mouse/Elephant (which have all gone missing as in torn open so they were hidden/tossed)! Miss Stella loves soft cuddly toys except when we reentered teething we started to rip things open. She does not get to have these until we get teething and shredding back under control. We are working on ‘Leave it’ to preëmpt the  need for a “Give” command. It would seem from this photo she knows this very well. It is sort of like her sitting in the big chair.

However, seeing as she has worked so hard for me and she did not seem to want to chew this to pieces, we thought it would be ok for her to hang out with a new buddy for a little nap. Besides, looking at that tired little face sort of just melts the heart.  I completely understand hard work and tired. Miss Stella’s little investigation snagged her a Bear. This just might make the work week a little brighter.

  1. My family, human and canine, are what keep me going through a tough week! We can’t keep stuffed dog animal toys in our house; Mandy and Darwin can (and will!) tear one to shreds in no time.

  2. Lovely pictures. I had to get used to “not yours”. I heard it a lot when I was younger and after a while realised that not many things were mine! I sometimes still hear but not so much.

  3. How sweet is that?? Chance likes to collect all his toys around him for naps. We have benches at the foot of our beds for help up-gotta have dogs in beds!!
