Inspiration for this new blog award comes from the recent challenge of finding seven posts in your archives. The blogger is to read their own post archives and find certain posts to fit a given set of categories. This of course made me think. It also made me read. I not only read through my own archives, but in pursuing those that challenged me and stumbling across other blogs that had completed the challenge themselves, I found posts that were jewels I may not have taken the time to read that were hidden in the archives. There really is some great writing buried in the older archives. We could all be missing some great reads! We may not have tons of spare time to just dig and read through everyone’s archives, but what if we noticed that they had a really cool award that let us know someone had found some awesome archive posts worth digging into the blog’s history? A little time saved and new posts worth reading? Sounds like a win~win to me.
In the spirit of the Genuine Blogger Award, there really is no obligation. Post the award badge to let others know that taking time to search through your archives is well worth the walk. We all have dusty archives that need brought back to the top of the pile again.
If you want to help another blogger shed light on a few dust bunnies, then go for it. As you visit fellow bloggers, take a moment and dig into their older archives to find a post you have not read. Let others know that you have found “Noteworthy Archives” worth digging for by leaving a message in their comments! Do the same if you are just checking out some new blogs. Let them know they can post a badge award to display so others may start to read their older posts that are hanging around with the dust bunnies in the dark and are just waiting for some fresh air.
